If you're less sensitive (more resistant), then it can often feel like more carbs will go straight to your gut or your as*. And most of the time, it's not just in your head. Unfortunately, determining insulin levels isn't an easy process and requires blood work, but you can see how your body reacts to higher- carb meals. A healthy diet can even include some of the carbs you might not consider healthy—whether bread, grains, and rice, or some sugary dessert every now and then.
