10/29/2017 0 Comments 21 Month Old Not Eating Dinner DietFeeding a 7 month old ? I am concerned my daughter isn't getting enough food or liquid. She gets 3 meals a day, all have cereal, breakfast has half a gerber pack of fruit and 2 oz bottle, lunch half a gerber pack of a veggie and 2 oz bottle and dinner the second half of the fruit and veggie, no bottle. She also gets a 8 oz bottle of formula once a day. What do you think? Both of my babies' schedules were something like this at 7 months old: 8 am (breakfast)- 1/2 of 8oz. It was the same with our breastfed baby- each meal consisted of milk, solids, milk; naps were at 1. This schedule worked well for us and both our boys ate every well, but all babies are different. Feeding some milk first takes the edge off the baby's hunger so that they they don't get frustrated, but leaves them hungry enough to be willing to eat the solids. Then topping off with the rest of their milk just makes sure they got enough. With this schedule theay are eating meals rather than snacking all day and never being hungry enough to eat well. There is a higher caloric content in the formula verses food - as your little one gets bigger she can have less milk and more food but at least 4oz. Hope that helps - good luck, Mom of 2. Thank you! 2. 6. out of 2. My son just turned 7 months old last week. I have beeen alternating feedings with solids and formula. When he firts wakes up in the morning, he takes a 6oz bottle. Then 3 hours later i feed him 1 pack of Gerber 2nd stage veggies followed with rice cereal, 3 hours later he gets a regular 6oz bottle, then 3 hours after that he gets 1 pack of gerber 2nd stage fruits and cereal, then usually a bottle before bed. This way he is hydrated and getting an even amount of fruits and veggies each day. My doctor says i need to start him on meats soon, so i will make room for that in his diet. At this age the formula or breast milk is still the most important part of their diet with the baby food an important supplement and training tool for future eating. Basically don't slack off on the liquid food. If you are worried that she is small, just ask your doctor their is most likely nothing to worry about. All kids grow in fits and spurts.
